Beauty Tips for Your First Valentines Date

If your date on Valentines Day will be your first, then you are probably all jittery. You want it to be perfect because after all, you believe that first impressions last.

While one date is the not the basis for a good life-long relationship, we all would want to have an enjoyable time, right?

For one thing, you need to relax. If you are all jittery on your first date, then you are most likely to bungle up and by the end of the night, you will be a nervous wreck. So…relax.

1. Get a good night’s rest the night before. Sleep is a basic beauty tip. When you wake up the next day, your face will already be naturally glowing. If your date falls on a weekend, it would be great to even have a nap in the afternoon.

2. Get a mani-pedi. Not only will your finger and toes look neat and clean, you will also be able to relax at the salon. I would suggest neutral colors like “touch of tan” for a first date. It is a safe color that will make your nails look presentable without putting too much emphasis on them.

3. Go for the natural look. If you are going out in the evenings, it would be nice to put on some color that will highlight your features, especially if you are going to dine in dimly lit restaurants. Aside from a good foundation or powder, do apply pink blush and an appropriate color lipstick. Touch up if you need to a few times throughout the evening.

4. Curl those lashes. Even with the simple look, curled lashes really enhance a woman’s look. Use a curlash and a good quality, water-proof mascara to achieve the look. I would suggest that you avoid the false eyelashes–especially if you are not used to having them on your eyes. Dolled up lashes with eyeliner would really work well on an evening date.

5. If you are going to a disco or a bar after dinner, it would be nice to wear eye makeup that will achieve the smoky eyes.

6. As for the hair, keep it simple. Don’t do you hair to be drastically different than you usual style. You don’t want your date to mistake you for another person.

First dates should be fun. More than just impressing the new guy, work on enjoying yourself and having fun. Just remember, all these beauty stuff are just superficial. While it is nice to work on looking good, that should not just be the basis for having a relationship.

Make-up Styles Men Hate

Women wear make up for different reasons. Others are for costume parties, others to hide some beauty spots or the disguise the deepening lines and wrinkles. There are also those who want to add to add color to their pale skin, so they add some blush and lipstick or the shimmer of lip gloss. But perhaps the most common underlying reason for wearing cosmetics is to look good.

However, while make-up is a main concern of women, men also have their say on how their women, and women in general, look. So what are the looks that men hate?

1. Heavy foundation or a thick layer of powder. Men find it a turn off when they kiss a woman on the cheek and find that the foundation has stayed on their own cheek. They have the same sentiment on flaking make up.

2. Uneven make-up application. Having uneven skin tone is different than having uneven application of foundation. One man said that it is like the woman applied make-up in the dark.

3. Neon lipstick. A lot of women went neon on their pouts for the holidays but it seems that the men could not accept the unnaturally bright color.

4. Eyebrows that are barely there. No explanation needed.

5. Bold eyeshadow–both in application and color selection.

6. Rosy cheeks.

7. Two-toned lips. This happens when you use a lip liner that is darker than your lip stick.

8. Glitter. Getting glitterized is nice but it should not be too much.

While men like their women to look good even with the help of make-up, it is apparent that they do not like looks that are too unreal.

Angelina Jolie plays supportive wife (or partner) to Brad Pitt when the latter’s movie, Moneyball, premiered in Japan.

In the photo above from Yahoo News, Angelina was statuesque in a simple cut red dress that accentuates her lithe body. But what caught my eye was her really flawless make up and really red lipstick.

It is a natural look that highlighted her best asset that is coveted by women all over the world–the Angelina Jolie lips. The foundation was just right that her complexion looked natural and flawless. While the lipstick was a dark red, it completed her skin color and also her dress. This was perfect if I may say so.

I wonder what they did on her face–I mean the products that they applied. I know that the natural look is kinda hard to achieve because you have to apply the right products and just the right strokes. Good job to her make up artist!
