Anti-ageing products from Yves Rocher

I have read about age-specific anti-ageing skin care products but here in the Philippines, it is unfortunate that we do not yet have such a technology for such specialized line. So in the end, everyone who wants to have younger-looking skin will just choose from a limited selection produced by a few brands in the market.

But the problem is, people have different skin types, which follows that they also have different needs. I have oily skin. But my skin looks dull and age spots have started appearing five years ago. I was advised to wear sunblock but if I do, I get comedones. The same is true with moisturizers. I have tried all kinds of moisturizes but it seems that they just clog my pores and I get a lot of pimples. It is just a crazy cycle.

Anyway, I came across anti-ageing skincare by Yves Rocher. When I visited their website, what I noticed is that you will really get specialized skin care that is appropriate for your age. They have so many products but it is easy to find what you need because all you need to do is to go to your age bracket and you will be presented with your choices.

I am interested with their Exfoliating Cleanser, Skin Optimizer, and Specific Intensive Eye Smoothing Care. And I am in luck because all their items are on sale for spring! Weeee Now all I need is to have these items shipped to my aunt in London so that she can send them over to me when her package arrives. I am so excited to used these products because I am just so frustrated with the little choices that we have here.

The Changing Face of Kate Gosselin-Facelift?

Kate Gosselin facelift

Although she denies it, it seems that there has already been so many alterations on the face of reality star Kate Gosselin. Photo collage from US.

We have first heard of Kate Gosselin and her ex-husband Jon Gosselin in the reality show, Jon and Kate Plus 8 when after siring twins, they had sextuplets. Their second batch of kids were born on May 10, 2004 and the names are Hannah, Joel, Leah, Collin, Alexis and Aaden.

Eventually the show was renamed Kate Plus 8 after the bitter divorce.

So ever since, the couple has been on TV, on papers, and in magazines. It is no wonder that Kate’s face had been under scrutiny by the media. And in the photo collage from US magazine above, I really cannot recognize her anymore, even if I saw her on the street. I loved her look from the early days with that cockatoo mane. She looked fresh and happy. Now, she looks mean. Is that what too much tinkering with your face with bring you?

For me, I would rather age gracefully than look like this. We have this same version among Filipino celebrities–Gretchen Barretto.

Anyway, you be the judge.

Aging Skin: How to Take Care of Our Skin as We Age

Our age will determine how we should take care of our skin. Allure.com recently published this article where they interviewed Jasmina Aganovic, creator of the Stages of Beauty skin care site and who is also a chemical and biological engineer by profession. Here are her words of advice:

Protect and Repair in your 20s. Young women enjoy bathing in the sun and spending late nights. These two are enemies of young skin because because they accelerate aging. Aganovic recommends the use of sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF on the face. They also need powerful antioxidants to repair skin damage.

Exfoliate and regenerate in your 30s. Collagen and elastin supply decrease as we age and so at this time, we will already start seeing fine lines. So we should introduce collage and elastin into our beauty products, such as peptides or retinols. We should also regularly exfoliate our facial skin.

Plump and soothe in your 40s. By this time, our skin is already thinning. We should try hyaluronic acid to make our skin plump from within.

Hydrate and nurture in your 50s. Hormonal changes and menopause can lead to skin dryness. Use soy and white tea extract to help protect against damage.
